Science-Driven Transition for Youth Success
Secondary Special Education and Transition (SSET) is a multidisciplinary research unit dedicated to developing scientific understanding of youth and young adults experiencing disability.
Who We Are
SSET faculty conduct research and technical assistance and outreach activities to develop and implement evidence- and research-based services that assist transition-age youth in developing knowledge and skills to succeed in employment, postsecondary education or training, and living independently in the community.
Co-Directors: Charlotte Alverson, Ph.D. & Deanne Unruh, Ph.D.
What We Do
SSET faculty actively develop, implement, and evaluate collaborative transition programs that guide youth from adolescence to independent adulthood. Additionally, SSET provides technical assistance and professional development to a wide range of agencies and policymakers on topics like strategic planning, workforce readiness, juvenile justice re-entry, and the effective use of transition-related data.
